XANDOR Automotive is an international company supplying both the automotive and commercial vehicle industry.

A fantastic opportunity is available for a Tooling Engineer to work at our Brierly Hill site. The role is initially for 3-6 months but for the right candidate this could be longer.

This position would suit an enthusiastic Tooling Engineer who is looking to take the lead & supply ‘Best in Class’ technical support with regards to all New Tooling Introduction.

This is a highly visible role within the business supporting the development, procurement and introduction of new Tooling into the plant with extensive weekly customer / group reviews, focused on the delivery of several suites of tooling for strategically important automotive projects -Tooling is currently within various phases of introduction…. ……. New Tool Sourcing, Final approval / PPAP, Design Change & Job 1 +90 days support

Reporting to the Engineering & Programme Manager with daily functional reporting directly to the relevant Launch / Project Engineers.

Role summary:

Manage multiple tooling projects as defined by business needs.
Feasibility – Able to identify problems in Product design in the early stages of component design.
Manage the Transfer of CAD models to Sub-Suppliers, undertaking problem solving FEA (Moldflow, Moldwarp etc)
Approving / optimising tool designs and specifications.
Co-ordinate and carry out cross-functional tool design (GA) reviews, ensuring all tool designs are reviewed in line with tool specification, procedures and guidelines.
Manage the external toolmakers to ensure Quality, Cost, Delivery targets are achieved
Lead development tool trials on / off site throughout the maturation & approval phase
Complete tool manufacture checklist and carry out pre-delivery checks on tools to ensure that tools comply with specifications and production expectation.
Completion of all necessary documentation to support the Tool sign off into manufacture
To assist Production Engineering functions, facilitating the repair, refurbishment, improvement and maintenance of existing and new tooling.
Assist the Sales function with Technical Support when required to help secure new business.


Person specification:

ONC / HNC, Apprenticeship or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 10 years injection moulding experience (Tool Feasibility, Design, Construction / Manufacture)
Extensive knowledge of NPI expectations / APQP / Gateways within the Automotive industry (Tier 1 / Tier 2)
Self-motivated and confident – taking responsibility for all areas of work & leading by example
Ability to interface and communicate effectively at all levels – with all colleagues, customers & suppliers
High standard of written / verbal reporting & presentations to both internal & external customers
Focused mindset to exceed internal & customer expectations / KPIs
The ability to work as part of a team whilst equally being able to manage your own time and workload.
Current driving license & passport is required to support overseas / UK travel as necessary
Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
